Sleep Disorders Center

Did you know individuals with untreated, severe sleep apnea are three times more likely to suffer a debilitating stroke? What about the fact that 70% of stroke victims are found to have some form of obstructive sleep apnea (OSA)? With this in mind, it's never been more important to ensure you're getting a good night's sleep.

Rivers Health’s Sleep Disorders Center is designed to help you and your doctor learn more about your sleep problems. We offer both in-patient polysomnography studies as well as home testing.

What are the three types of sleep apnea?

There are three types of sleep apnea: obstructive, central and mixed. Polysomnography is the best test to diagnose which kind and to what degree patients are effected.

How do I know if I should be tested for a sleep disorder?

Some of the conditions the Sleep Disorders Center can test for include sleep apnea, narcolepsy, insomnia, snoring, restless legs syndrome and problems from shift work. If you are overweight and snore or stop breathing while asleep, you are encouraged to get tested. The testing process is simple and painless. You may even qualify for a home sleep study so you can be tested in the comfort of your own bed.

Why should I make quality sleep a priority?

In addition to improved overall health, you will feel rejuvenated and more energetic while looking forward to actually sleeping better.
