Psychiatry services now available in Mason County

Marshall Health Network opens new psychiatry clinic in Point Pleasant

Marshall Health Network is expanding access to behavioral healthcare in Mason County with the opening of the county's only outpatient psychiatry clinic. Located in Marshall University's Mid-Ohio Valley Center at One John Marshall Drive in Point Pleasant, the clinic addresses a critical gap in access to psychiatric services for adults, children and older adults.

As part of Marshall Health Network, the clinic provides access to comprehensive psychiatric evaluation and treatment, including medication management and coordination with primary care physicians, therapists and other specialists when needed. The clinic also serves as the home of the Marshall Community Health Consortium's rural psychiatry residency program, helping train the next generation of psychiatrists while expanding access to care in rural West Virginia.

"Expanding access to high-quality behavioral healthcare is essential to improving the well-being of our communities," said Suzanne Holroyd, M.D., a psychiatrist at Marshall Health Network and professor and chair of psychiatry and behavioral medicine at the Marshall University Joan C. Edwards School of Medicine. "By opening this new clinic in an underserved area, we're removing barriers to care and ensuring that individuals and families can receive compassionate, evidence-based mental health services closer to home."

Marshall Psychiatry welcomed community members during an open house yesterday evening to showcase the new clinical space, which officially opened July 1. The clinic provides outpatient psychiatry services, and no referral is required. Appointments are available by calling Marshall Psychiatry at 304-733-8735.
