Marshall Health Network to offer flu shots, health screenings at Senior Wellness Day Sept. 19

Health experts from across Marshall Health Network will come together for Senior Wellness Day, offering adults ages 55 and older convenient access to preventive screenings, flu shots and wellness resources. The event will be held Saturday, Sept. 19, from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. in the shared atrium at Marshall University Medical Center and Cabell Huntington Hospital, 1600 Medical Center Drive in Huntington. 

Flu shots will be offered as well as a variety of screenings and assessments, including blood pressure, blood sugar, lung health, vision, hearing, cancer screenings and pre-screenings, healthy foot checks and more. 

“Preventive care plays an important role in helping people stay healthy and active as they age,” said Tim Martin, president of Marshall Health Network – Cabell Huntington Hospital. “For many years, Cabell Huntington Hospital’s SeniorFest brought our community together around health and wellness. As we celebrate the hospital’s 70th anniversary, Senior Wellness Day gives us an opportunity to build on that tradition and connect people with screenings, vaccinations and resources that can help them take an active role in their health.” 

Healthcare professionals from across Marshall Health Network will also be available to share information and resources related to heart health, diabetes, nutrition, joint health, memory and brain health, behavioral health, sleep, medication management, advance care planning and other aspects of healthy aging. 

Senior Wellness Day is part of Cabell Huntington Hospital’s 70th anniversary celebration and continues the hospital’s longstanding commitment to improving the health and well-being of the community. 

The event is open to adults ages 55 and older. No registration is required. Attendees are encouraged to bring their insurance card for flu shots and any other services that may be billed to insurance.
