A suspicious mammogram or lump in the breast can be frightening. At the Rivers Health Center for Women’s Health, a minimally invasive procedure called stereotactic breast biopsy provides an accurate diagnosis with minimal discomfort, giving patients and their families peace of mind.
Supervised by experienced Marshall surgeon Arthur Fine, MD, FACS, and highly trained radiologist Suresh Agrawal, MD, the stereotactic breast biopsy system at Rivers Health pinpoints breast cancer and other abnormalities more accurately than ever before. Using advanced X-ray techniques to determine the exact location of a breast mass, stereotactic breast biopsy removes a small sampling of tissue from the area of concern. Performed through a single, tiny incision, the procedure takes less than an hour to complete and requires no stitches. It is simple, safe and painless, allowing patients to return to normal activities quickly.
Breast cancer is the most common cancer among women, and successful treatment begins with an early, accurate diagnosis. However, whether cancer is found or the biopsy results are benign, women at Rivers Health can count on receiving state-of-the-art care – right here in the community we love.
