More than 100 golfers gathered Friday, June 5, at Riverside Golf Club for the annual Marshall Health Network Foundations Rivers Health Golf Tournament, presented by MIRC Construction Services.
The event raised support for the Marshall Health Network – Rivers Health Good Samaritan Fund, a newly established initiative that helps patients overcome financial barriers that can affect their health, recovery and access to care.
“Many factors that influence health happen outside of a hospital or clinic,” said Shawn Bastin, president of Rivers Health. “The Good Samaritan Fund reflects our commitment to caring for the whole person by helping patients overcome financial challenges that can affect their recovery, well-being and access to care.”
The Good Samaritan Fund provides assistance to eligible patients who need support with essential items and services related to their care and well-being, such as free screening mammograms for uninsured and underinsured patients and travel assistance for infusion patients in need.
"This tournament demonstrates the generosity of our community and its commitment to helping neighbors in need," said Matt James, vice president of foundations at Marshall Health Network. "Every sponsor, golfer and volunteer played a role in supporting patients and families throughout the region while helping launch this important new initiative."
In addition to MIRC, tournament sponsors included Amerigis Healthcare, APG Polytech, LLC, CHHE Federal Credit Union, City Ice & Fuel, City National Bank, CommuniCare, DASCO Home Medical Equipment, DjM Architecture, LLC, Dr. David Faber, Encova of West Virginia,Giovanni's Pizza of Point Pleasant, Hess, Stewart, & Cambell, Hope for Tomorrow, Mark Porter Auto Group, Mr. Michael Blaine, Mr. Tim Cottrill, Ohio Valley Bank, Ohio Valley Electric Corp., Peak Health, Peoples Bank, Pepsi, Radiology, Inc., Radon Medical Imaging, Sons of American Legion, The Root, US Acute Care, US Foods, Wahama Hall of Fame, and WV Outdoor.
